Is the erupting geyser actually Geysir?

One spring gave the world a name; its neighbour often gives visitors the show.

The English word geyser comes from Iceland’s Geysir. The Golden Circle geothermal area contains several hot springs, including the well-known Geysir and Strokkur.

The spring visitors usually gather around to photograph frequent eruptions is nearby Strokkur. It is a different spring, not another name for Geysir. Watch from the designated area and keep clear of hot water and steam.

Two names help you read this geothermal landscape more closely.
