Reynisfjara
Black sand, basalt columns and Atlantic waves near Vík.
- South-coast beach
- Follow sneaker-wave warnings
Volcanic rock, dark sand and sea-shaped landforms create strong contrasts at Reynisfjara. Waves and erosion change the shore, so a photograph does not establish present-day access.
Dangerous sneaker waves occur here. Follow current warnings, closures and on-site signs, and stay back from the water and cliffs rather than entering restricted areas for a photograph.
