A woman in white forms another strand of Höfði's reputation. The official tourism account connects her with a British diplomat who once lived here: in the telling, disturbances became so troubling that he sought to leave the house.
The building has a documented history; the apparition belongs to a reported legend. This account keeps that distinction and does not combine the different identities given to female figures in other tellings.
Documented history
The house came into use in 1909 as a residence for the French consul. Reagan and Gorbachev met here in 1986.
Versions & sources
Later accounts associate a female figure named Sólborg with Einar Benediktsson. The archival basis for equating these figures has not been established here.
Editorial Icelandic display titles are not claimed as recovered collection titles.
